दिल्ली की पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री शीला दीक्षित का निधन हो गया. वह 81 साल की थीं. वह लंबे समय से बीमार चल रही थीं. उनका एस्कॉर्ट हॉस्पिटल में इलाज चल रहा था.
शीला दीक्षित साल 1998 से 2013 तक दिल्ली की मुख्यमंत्री रहीं. उनके नेतृत्व में लगातार तीन बार कांग्रेस ने दिल्ली में सरकार बनाई. वह सबसे लंबे समय (15 साल) तक दिल्ली की मुख्यमंत्री रहीं.
शीला दीक्षित के निधन पर तमाम राजनीतिक नेताओं की तरफ से प्रतिक्रिया आयी है.

शीला दीक्षित की तबियत कुछ वक्त से ठीक नहीं थी. मौजूदा वक्त में उनके पास कांग्रेस के दिल्ली अध्यक्ष पद की जिम्मेदारी भी थी. हाल ही में संपन्न हुए लोकसभा चुनावों में वो उत्तर पूर्वी दिल्ली से चुनाव भी लड़ीं थी, लेकिन उन्हें सफलता नहीं मिली.
कांग्रेस की कद्दावर नेता रहीं शीला दीक्षित का जन्म 31 मार्च 1938 को पंजाब के कपूरथला में हुा. उन्होंने दिल्ली के कॉन्वेंट ऑफ जीसस एंड मैरी स्कूल से पढ़ाई की और फिल दिल्ली यूनिवर्सिटी के मिरांडा हाउस कॉलेज से मास्टर्स ऑफ आर्ट्स की डिग्री हासिल की. शीला दीक्षित साल 1984 से 1989 तक उत्तर प्रदेश के कन्नौज से सांसद रहीं. बतौर सांसद वह लोकसभा की एस्टिमेट्स कमिटी का हिस्सा भी रहीं. शीला दीक्षित को दिल्ली का चेहरा बदलने का श्रेय दिया जाता है. उनके कार्यकाल में दिल्ली में विभिन्न विकास कार्य हुए.
