सात राज्यों और एक केंद्र शासित प्रदेश के 59 निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में रविवार को लोकसभा चुनाव 2019 के सातवें और अंतिम चरण के लिए मतदान जारी है. 10.1 करोड़ से अधिक मतदाता प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी, जो वाराणसी से चुनाव लड़ रहे हैं, सहित 918 उम्मीदवारों के भाग्य का फैसला करेंगे. मतदान शाम छह बजे तक जारी रहेगा.
आज मतदान के लिए जाने वाले राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों में बिहार (8), झारखंड (3), मध्य प्रदेश (8), पंजाब (13), पश्चिम बंगाल (9), उत्तर प्रदेश (13), हिमाचल प्रदेश (4) और चंडीगढ़ हैं(1). परिणाम 23 मई को घोषित किए जाएंगे.
आज होने वाले मतदान में कुछ प्रमुख निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में वाराणसी है, जहां से प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी प्रत्याशी हैं. दूसरी ज़रूरी सीट पटना साहिब की है, जिसमें शत्रुघ्न सिन्हा केंद्रीय मंत्री रविशंकर प्रसाद के खिलाफ चुनाव लड़ेंगे, वहीं चंडीगढ़ से भाजपा की किरण खेर मैदान में हैं और गुरदासपुर से बीजेपी की ओर से सनी देओल और कांग्रेस के सुनील जाखड़ आमने सामने हैं. बिहार के 157 उम्मीदवारों में चार केंद्रीय मंत्री, रविशंकर प्रसाद, राम कृपाल यादव, आरके सिंह और अश्विनी कुमार चौबे शामिल हैं.
इसके अलावा, मार्च में पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री मनोहर पर्रिकर के निधन के कारण पणजी में उपचुनाव कराया जा रहा है. उपचुनाव तमिलनाडु के चार विधानसभा क्षेत्रों – सुलूर, अरवाकुरीची, ओट्टापीदारम (एससी) और थिरुपरंकुन्द्रम – और डेयरी में भी आयोजित किए जा रहे हैं.
