टोक्यो पैरालंपिक में भारत की अवनि लेखरा और सुमित अंतिल ने इतिहास रच दिया है। अवनि ने निशानेबाजी में महिलाओं की 10 मीटर एयर स्पर्धा एसएच-1 में स्वर्ण पदक अपने नाम किया तो सुमित ने भाला फेंक की एफ-64 स्पर्धा में गोल्ड जीता। इस पूरे मौके में ख़ास बात यह पहली बार है कि भारत ने पैरालंपिक खेलों में दो स्वर्ण जीते हैं।

बता दे पहली बार पैरालंपिक खेलों में खेलते हुए सुमित ने जेवलिन थ्रो के F-64 इवेंट के अपने दूसरे प्रयास में 68.08 मीटर का थ्रो किया और विश्व रिकॉर्ड बना डाला। इसके बाद तो उन्होंने अपने पांचवें प्रयास में इसे और सुधारा और 68.55 मीटर के थ्रो के साथ विश्व रिकॉर्ड कायम कर दिया। और तो और, सुमित ने अपने पहले प्रयास में 66.95 मीटर दूर भाला फेंका जो भी एक रिकॉर्ड है।

सुमित ने अपने पहले प्रयास में 66.95 मीटर दूर भाला फेंका जो भी एक रिकॉर्ड है। दूसरे प्रयास में इसे और बेहतर किया और 68.08 मीटर का थ्रो किया। फिर तीसरे प्रयास में 65.27, चौथे प्रयास में 66.71 और 5वें प्रयास में सुमित ने 68.55 मीटर का थ्रो किया।

चौथे पायदान पर रहे संदीप।
इधर ऑस्ट्रेलिया के माइकल बरियन ने 66.29 मीटर थ्रो की बदौलत सिल्वर मेडल जीता है। श्रीलंका के दुलन कोडिथुवक्कू ने 65.61 मीटर के थ्रो के साथ ब्रॉन्ज जीता। इसी इवेंट के F-44 क्लास में भारत के ही संदीप चौथे स्थान पर रहे जिन्होंने सीजन का अपना सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन करते हुए 62.20 मीटर का थ्रो किया।

सड़क हादसे में पैर गवां चुके थे सुमित।
करीब 6 साल पहले सड़क हादसे में अपना एक पैर गंवाने वाले सुमित ने बुलंद हौसलों, मेहनत और जज्बे के दम पर यह मुकाम हासिल किया है। हरियाणा के रहने वाले सुमित तीन बहनों के इकलौते भाई हैं। सुमित जब 7 साल के थे, तब एयरफोर्स में तैनात उनके पिता की बीमारी से मौत हो गई थी। साल 2015 में जब सुमित ट्यूशन लेकर अपने घर वापस आ रहे थे, तभी एक ट्रैक्टर-ट्रॉली ने टक्कर मार दी। इसी हादसे में सुमित को अपना एक पैर गंवाना पड़ा था और वह कई महीनों तक बिस्तर पर रहे थे।
भारत की झोली में आये 7 पदक।
टोक्यो पैरालंपिक्स में भारत के पदकों की संख्या अब सात हो गई है। निशानेबाज अवनि लेखरा और सुमित अंतिल ने स्वर्ण पदक जीते हैं। इसके अलावा भारत ने एथलेटिक्स में तीन और टेबल टेनिस में एक रजत पदक जीते हैं। भारत ने एथलेटिक्स में एक कांस्य पदक भी जीता है। एथलेटिक्स में देवेंद्र झाझरिया, योगेश कथुनिया और निषाद कुमार ने रजत पदक जीते हैं। टेबल टेनिस में भाविनाबेन पटेल ने सिल्वर मेडल जीता है।

वहीं, सुंदर सिंह गुर्जर ने कांस्य पदक जीता है। वैसे भारत के पदकों की यह संख्या आठ होती, लेकिन भारत के चक्का फेंक एथलीट विनोद कुमार ने टूर्नामेंट के पैनल द्वारा विकार के क्लासिफिकेशन निरीक्षण में ‘अयोग्य’ पाए गए। इस कारण भारत ने पुरुषों की एफ52 स्पर्धा का कांस्य पदक गंवा दिया।
