इस फैसले के बाद सोशल मीडिया पर कई यूजर्स ने टीम और काव्या मारन की आलोचना की, क्योंकि किसी भारतीय मालिक वाली टीम द्वारा किसी पाकिस्तानी खिलाड़ी को साइन करना काफी समय बाद देखने को मिला है।
कौन हैं काव्या मारन?
काव्या मारन भारत के बड़े मीडिया समूह Sun TV Network के प्रमुख कारोबारी परिवार से आती हैं। वह बिजनेसमैन Kalanithi Maran की बेटी हैं और क्रिकेट फ्रेंचाइजी Sunrisers Hyderabad के संचालन में भी सक्रिय भूमिका निभाती हैं।
काव्या अक्सर IPL ऑक्शन और मैचों के दौरान टीम मैनेजमेंट के साथ नजर आती हैं, जिसके कारण वह क्रिकेट फैंस के बीच काफी लोकप्रिय हो चुकी हैं।
The Hundred में Sunrisers Leeds की एंट्री
पिछले साल सन टीवी ग्रुप ने इंग्लैंड की लीग The Hundred की टीम Sunrisers Leeds में हिस्सेदारी ली थी। रिपोर्ट्स के मुताबिक कंपनी ने पहले इंग्लैंड एंड वेल्स क्रिकेट बोर्ड (ECB) से 49 प्रतिशत हिस्सेदारी खरीदी और बाकी 51 प्रतिशत हिस्सा यॉर्कशायर से हासिल किया। इसके बाद यह फ्रेंचाइजी पूरी तरह सन टीवी ग्रुप के नियंत्रण में आ गई। पाकिस्तानी स्पिनर अबरार अहमद को टीम में शामिल किया
इस साल हुए प्लेयर ऑक्शन में टीम ने पाकिस्तान के स्पिनर अबरार अहमद को खरीद लिया। बताया जा रहा है कि ऑस्ट्रेलियाई कोच Daniel Vettori ने इस खिलाड़ी को टीम में लेने की सलाह दी थी।वेट्टोरी ने कहा कि उन्होंने ऑस्ट्रेलियाई खिलाड़ियों से अबरार के बारे में जानकारी ली थी, जिसके बाद टीम ने उन्हें साइन करने का फैसला किया।
टीम का सोशल मीडिया अकाउंट भी हुआ सस्पेंड
अबरार अहमद को साइन करने के कुछ घंटों बाद ही Sunrisers Leeds का आधिकारिक X (पहले ट्विटर) अकाउंट सस्पेंड हो गया। हालांकि प्लेटफॉर्म की ओर से इसका कोई आधिकारिक कारण नहीं बताया गया। अकाउंट खोलने पर सिर्फ “Account suspended” का संदेश दिखाई दे रहा है।
IPL में 2008 के बाद नहीं खेले पाकिस्तानी खिलाड़ी
भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच राजनीतिक तनाव के कारण Indian Premier League में 2008 के बाद से कोई पाकिस्तानी खिलाड़ी नहीं खेल पाया है।
हालांकि दुनिया की अन्य टी20 लीग में आईपीएल फ्रेंचाइजी मालिकों की टीमों में पाकिस्तानी खिलाड़ी पहले भी खेलते रहे हैं।
