उत्तर प्रदेश विधानसभा चुनाव से पहले समाजवादी पार्टी प्रमुख अखिलेश यादव ने ऐलान किया है कि वह मैनपुरी की करहल सीट से विधानसभा चुनाव लड़ेंगे. करहल सपा का गढ़ माना जाता है. यह सीट सपा की सुरक्षित सीट कही जाती है.
बता दें कि चुनाव लड़ने को लेकर अखिलेश ने बीते दिनों कहा था कि अगर पार्टी चाहती है, तो मैं चुनाव लड़ूंगा. इसके बाद से ऐसे कयास लगाए जा रहे थे कि वह इस बार विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए बतौर प्रत्याशी अपनी दावेदारी पेश करेंगे.
उन्होंने पत्रकारों को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि अगर सपा की सरकार बनी तो आईटी (IT) सेक्टर में आने वाले समय में 22 लाख युवाओं को रोजगार मिलेगा.

बता दे कि यूपी में कुल 403 सीटों के लिए सात चरणों में मतदान होगा. इन चरणों के तहत 10 फरवरी, 14 फरवरी, 20 फरवरी, 23 फरवरी, 27 फरवरी, 3 मार्च और 7 मार्च को वोटिंग होगी. वही 10 मार्च को नतीजे आएंगे.
